guided visit + studio

This program invites students to have a one-hour guided tour in the galleries followed by an hour of art making in our pop-up studio. This opportunity to explore materials and experiment with processes encourages students to think like artists and be inspired by artists’ ideas. The making experience in the studio also connects well to the looking experience in the galleries!

All programs address the New York State Learning Standards and focus on school curriculum areas including art, English language arts, social studies, and technology. Programs address the New York City Blueprint for Visual Arts Strands I–IV.

All programs at the Whitney also support classroom learning in the ways encouraged by the Common Core State Standards. Our artist-centered, inquiry-based tours and multi-part programs develop skills in evidential reasoning, critical thinking, and public speaking.
